CREDAI to train Construction Workers in RPL under NIPUN (National Initiative for Promotion of Upskilling of Nirman Workers)

Date: 20 June 2022 | Source:

NIPUN is a unique project under the aegis of MoHUA and implemented by NSDC

CREDAI will join hands with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), along with other industry stakeholders to implement NIPUN with a focus on bridging skill gaps in construction workers engaged in the Real estate sector.

The construction sector currently employs more than 50 million people and mainly comprises of migrants from rural areas seeking better livelihood opportunities. However, these workers are bereft of job and financial security owing to their lack of qualifications and lack knowledge to grow up the ladder.

Continuing its commitment to improving the lives of construction workers through its foray into skill development almost a decade back, CREDAI remains committed towards the cause, as the industry is poised to become the largest employer in the coming years. Under National Initiative for Promotion of Upskilling of Nirman Workers (NIPUN) project, CREDAI will take the onus on adding more value to their lives as one of the core Project Implementation Agencies (PIAs), in a bid to upskill and address shortage of skilled manpower in the sector.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Shri Hardeep Singh Puri congratulated everyone as he took the stage and explained the importance of the project as he said, “I am very pleased today that my colleagues in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in collaboration with CREDAI, NAREDCO and other industry stakeholders have decided to catch the bull by the horn as the lack of skilled labour continues to be dominant in the construction industry. While for the unskilled part of the work, you will get a large number of applicants but as you continue to go up the skill ladder, there are only a few applicants. At a time, when technology is determining the future of a project, investing in the training of the required professional skill sets will help the country grow and as the country grows, these workers grow as well.”

“As the real estate sector continues to evolve and develop capabilities to service the changing preferences of consumers, it is integral to skill, upskill the backbone of the construction sector – the construction workers – and bring them up to speed for the best practices being followed in the domain,” Mr. Harsh Vardhan Patodia, President, CREDAI highlighted the importance of an upskilling initiative led by the apex body at the blue-riband event.
